OK, We're Out of the Boat! Now What? - part 2

Our venture out of the boat (see part 1) has made it through week two. What a milestone, people came back for more; no surprise really, just elation at the idea of viability. Actually viability really isn't the issue, as it's already time to start talking about a second group. Fourteen to sixteen is the ideal size for a simple church and Origins is already at eighteen plus kids. Origins Simple Truth Network can't be too far off. Praise God!
Tonight we watched the Saints advance to 6-0, ate tacos (no mexican food next week), and discussed 1 Peter chapter two. Here are the references and the questions. Comment with abandon!
  • Read 1 Peter 2:1-3 and post your answer to this question: What does "spiritual milk" mean to you?
  • Read 1 Peter 2:4-12 and comment on: Is Peter saying it's about what we do (our works)?
  • Read 1 Peter 2:13-24 and answer these questions: Why did Peter urge Christians to submit to governmental authority? -and- How do we live that out today? -plus- Why is it easier to blame God for our suffering, than praise Him for it?
We will enjoy your interaction. Thank you for your time.

OK, We're Out of the Boat! Now What? - part 1

Our first gathering was a truly divine intervention. The incredible orchestration of people, talents and gifts, and most importantly, the Holy Spirit. Thank you all for coming, it was a blessing to worship with you.
Most of the Christ followers and seekers at Origins have just stepped out of the boat. The boat, for the purposes of this series, is the idea of going to a church building at set intervals in a week's time, to do certain things with certain people; a routine that isn't bad, its the boat. However, going "to church" has become a religious checklist for far too many people. So, we stepped out. Origins is a simple church, we meet in a member's home, and share each others journey into this fresh revelation of life with Jesus Christ.
That said, we are learning from Peter about how to step out of the boat. You are welcome to engage in the journey with us. (online Bible)
  • Read Matthew 14:22-33 and John 6:15-24 and post your comments about this question: To grow spiritually, free from the boat, what are the essentials?
  • Read 1 Peter 1:1-25 and post your comments about these questions: How did God cause you personally to be born again? (please avoid theological principle and comment on your personal experience) How do you set your hope fully on grace?
Thank you for contributing to the learning environment of Origins.

Welcome

Origins is a new simple church. We gather to grow in Jesus Christ. Please feel free to engage in the discussions that will take place here. We believe Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6). Its a simple truth.
