Tonight we watched the Saints advance to 6-0, ate tacos (no mexican food next week), and discussed 1 Peter chapter two. Here are the references and the questions. Comment with abandon!
- Read 1 Peter 2:1-3 and post your answer to this question: What does "spiritual milk" mean to you?
- Read 1 Peter 2:4-12 and comment on: Is Peter saying it's about what we do (our works)?
- Read 1 Peter 2:13-24 and answer these questions: Why did Peter urge Christians to submit to governmental authority? -and- How do we live that out today? -plus- Why is it easier to blame God for our suffering, than praise Him for it?
In talking about that question of spiritual milk I have mulled over that one the past couple of days and what I have discovered is that we are constantly growing as believers and even though we move on to more solid food we still have to eat. To continue to mature and grow in our relationship with Christ we must continually feed on His word and stay plugged into that power source
ReplyDeleteIt is so easy to convert some of the more practical Scriptures into a to-do list. Checklists or works-based environments lead to religion not relationship. The whole point if the New Covenant is relationship. I love the way Paul explained the matter of our behavior to Titus, his trusted friend and partner in ministry.
ReplyDelete"For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works." (Titus 2:11-14)
We have been set free from ungodliness. Is your life attracting people to Jesus?
Can't wait for Sunday and "Part 3"!!!!
